To help or not ?

Helping and sharing are two fundamental values which were taught to us in childhood, but now I'm confused whether to help strangers or not ?

After this second incident, I doubt whether we have got the correct lessons or not. I was traveling to Ranchi from blue 🔵 airlines, and we were on an airport bus which will take us to our respective flight. It was a short ride as we just need to go to the flight from the boarding gate. I saw a lady who was standing next to me near the seat. I asked her would you like to take this seat, she didn't react. Furthermore, I asked her again and was getting up, and guess what she replied in a mocking way that I don't want a seat 🪑. My wife was seating next to me and said you should have not asked these ladies to take a seat, they don't value your respect and mock your kind gesture.
I felt very bad after this incident and was recollecting my memories of bus, train and metro. In the metro and train we offer our seat to the needy one as they cannot stand and may fall down due to the sudden stopping of the moving coach. Also, the slogan says people leave your seat for the person who need this more.
I think all these are false statements now.

Today we are at the resort for celebrating my post birthday party as due to the festive of Teej we couldn't celebrate it yesterday. Teej is a festival in Hindu, in which a wife keeps fast and pray for the well-being of her husband. In this, we worship goddess Parvati and lord Shiva.
My wife and I were playing carom board, and 2 girls younger than me were playing table tennis 🏓 and in one shot the ball rolled out near our chair under the dog's tail. They came and saw that and that time I was trying to help them to get the ball, but they were not asking my help. As the dog was sitting near my chair, it seems like a street dog who lives in the resort. He was sleeping there. Then I sat down as they don't want my help. Then one boy from their family came and taken out the ball.
Again I got the lesson we should not help them who doesn't asks for help.

But I think I'm still not changed. We are loving in cottage and beside our cottage one aunty was trying to close the door with her phone's torchlight. I asked her to turn on the bulb 💡 from inside the cottage. She listened and did.
I felt good :) I will continue doing this, as I'm touched by one statement "neki kar dariya mey daal" which was also used in one of my childhood TV series "Hatim"
